Creating Vision Boards
Creating vision boards has become popular over the years. Some people call it treasure maps or dream boards. A vision board is a collage of images that represent your dreams. It could be words, pictures, places, material things that are put together on a poster board. For those who are more technology based, there are now digitally based ones. The purpose of a vision board is to manifest your future, and to activate the law of attraction and start living your dreams.
I have been writing my goals down since I was a teenager and was introduced to vision boards years ago. I have recently started doing them with themes. I don’t consider myself artistic, yet I have the most fun creating them and most of the things on my vision boards have materialized. Some quickly, some years later.
A vision board is simply a visual representation or collage of the things that you want to have, be, or do in your life Vision boards can include images, words, phrases or sentences that affirm your intentions. The law of attraction states that we attract into our lives anything that we give attention to, regardless whether it be positive or negative. A vision board helps you to keep your attention on the bulls eye.
You will need a piece of poster board, glue, magazines and scissors. You could also go to the scrap booking section of your local art store and get some fancy stickers, colored paper or other creative materials. Sit and meditate for a moment and ask yourself these questions: What would you do differently when you realize your goal? Where would you travel? Where would you live? What would you wear? What things would you own? How would you feel inside? How you would look outside? What habits would you have? What would you do for work? Who would you help? Remember to have pictures and images that relate to all areas of your life such as health, career, finances, spirituality, relationships, etc.
Find images that convey your future and your dreams. Each picture on your vision board should evoke a positive emotional response from you. Cut them out and/or print them out and arrange on a poster, foam or cork board. Attach them with glue or pins.
Make it a Celebration. Have a glass of wine and turn on some music that you love. Or perhaps invite a few friends over to have a little vision board party. My friend, Marquetta Goodwin, puts on the vision board parties called “Manifesting Moments” and she always makes it fun, creative and has things to really inspire everyone. Make this a really fun experience and let go of any expectations of what it should be, and ask yourself what it could be.
Display in a prominent place that you will see everyday. The more you see, visualize, believe and feel your dreams, the more likely you are to attract them. Every time you focus on your vision board and feel your goals, you are confirming your order with the Universe, which will create the actions necessary to make that goal a reality.
Your vision board should be strategically placed in a location that gives you maximum exposure to it. You need to constantly bath your subconscious mind with it’s energy in order to manifest your desires quicker than you hope.
“Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference.” – Joel Barker
I hope I have inspired you to create your own vision board. If you are in Vegas, then I invite you to attend one of Marquetta’s “Manifesting Moments” events. Please contact me at email@example.com to find out when her next event is.
